Excuse me but has this thread been 'hijacked' or is it just me? i thought the thread was about which is better PSP or PS CS 2 etc sorry if im wrong and please correct me if i am. Sorry LostSoul but since ElseAndrew was spouting off about how photoshop owns I thought that I would ask for help on this thread hoping that he would explain the ownage but he doesn't seem to have been back to it. I had already said that I needed help elsewhere and Mahud said that he didn't know. Sorry bethany, its just that i have never had this problem before so i don't no how to solve it.

Bethany, here's a PSD file which contains a Layer Set entitled Preferences. Contained within are 9 layers, each labeled for the appropriate Preference setting that I'm using. I've got 1GB of RAM, so some of them are set pretty high. To see each layer, just click off the "Eye" on the top-most layer, and the next one down will be shown. PS Preferences.

I have poked around and poked some more literally for hours. (Not sleeping well tonight) and I still have no remote little clue about where to put this file. But thank you for trying to help me.

Place it anywhere you'd like on your hard drive. If your file associations are setup properly, when you double-click on it, it should just open up in Photoshop. If not, just do a File/Open... and browse for it. PSD files are the "working" files used by Photoshop...similar to PSP files for PSP. In other words, a PSD file is to Photoshop as a DOC file is to Word. EDIT: Remember, if you don't see the layers displayed in a small window, or a window with a tab entitled "Layers" (not "Layer Comp"), just press the <F7> key to toggle it. EDIT 2: If you press <F7> and still can't find it, do a complete screenshot (both, before and after pressing <F7>), and without resizing them, send 'em to me. We'll figure it out. ;D

For me that file appears to be a picture and does nothing but give me error messages. I am deleting this program from my hd AND I am reformatting in a few days time after I get some people calmed down. A lot of my programs don't work right right now because I got a worm and to clean it my antivirus company wrote a custom cleaner which screwed up all my file associations. Many things have refused to work ever since. Or maybe I ought to just let the people at support scream and go ahead and reformat this morning since I can't do the things I had planned to do. (The weather outside is getting worse by the second and I have been told that I am not allowed to go outside for the next few days)
I understand more now about to set up my pc so this time I will do a better job and starting over is becoming more and more crucial as I am finding many more things that no longer work. I will try again after the reformat but for now at least I quit.

It's actually 9 images, all underneath each other. But if you've had a worm screw around on your system, that could definitely cause a lot of your troubles with various Photoshop functions. I've got 20 years of experience in IT, so I know what's involved in reformatting a system...I've lost count how many hundreds of times I've done that. When you're back up, and ready to give it another go, lemme know: I'll still be here.
