I couldn't figure XnView out either and also installed it! lol... M@ showed me how to do it in PSP9 though. If you have it, open you file go to File > Export > Gif Optimizer and then go to the bottom that says "Area That Matches This Color", check, and go to Tolerance and put on 0. lol... Now, I'm like M@ and can use the bold in helping people. lol... ^_^ EDIT: Oh, by the way, thanks! I like it too! THANK YOU!!!

Here's my smiley: It came out good! But the colors got messed up when I made it a gif image.

It came out good! But the colors got messed up when I made it a gif image.[/quote] Instead of using paint to save as .GIF use the programee THUMP recommended to save, maybe your smiles will be even more awsome then they are now

Thanks for posting this tut. It was fun and I made a ton of little star smilies this weekend! And I must say... I am always amazed at those of you who use Paint (because I am so *hopeless* at it)! What do you mean? Your smiley is cool!

Once we get to Gifworks, how do we make them transparent? What do we click?

On Gifworks, at the top, it says "What is Gifworks.com???" under it is something else, "What can I do with Gifworks.com?" Under this, there is "How do I get started." Click this one and go to the "File" that is shown on the webpage. So you'll do File >> File Open. Now, two options will come up. If you already have the image uploaded onto a hosting site use the first, if not, upload it from yuor hard drive from the second. Now, go to Edit >> Add Transparency and you will have to click the color you want to be transparent. When that is done, go to File >> Save Image. Thr first option is for those who use FTP/WebTV. Use the second option, b/c its easier. Right click on your edited image and get the properties. And then go to your hosting site and upload it by URL and VIOLA! There you go! Hope that helps.

Nope! MS Paint is just the opposite. Once you get familiar with all the techniques its very easy to create something as complex looking as a star shaped smilie. -grin- For instance, everything in my signature are was made in MS Paint. Click on "iLOVEplatypus" and you'll see a pixelized platypus I made. So yeah, you just have to practice. ^^
