Sometimes when I get to know a person I catagorize them and put them into a box in my mind - church people, work people, Christian graphics people (that would be all of you , etc ) - and I forget that they have lives outside of the places where I am acquainted with them. (It's something I do subconsciously, never on purpose would I catagorize someone.) So in an effort to free yourself from the box labled "Christian Graphics people" in my head, how about telling a little about yourself? (Unless, of course, you are more comfortable in the box. lol) What do you do when you aren't busy creating new graphics? What are your other interests? What is one thing about you that would surprise people if they knew?

What do you do when you aren't busy creating new graphics? - I'm either working or spending time with the love of my life, my daughter, when she gets home from school. What are your other interests? - People on and offline know me for the kind of music I listen to. I think I'm the only one where I live (Maine, US) that actually listens to club music, lol. What is one thing about you that would surprise people if they knew? - It's already out of bag, so to speak, lol. On my 31st birthday in 2003 I shocked everyone when I showed them that I got my eyebrow pierced. Then I shocked them all once again when I got the same eyebrow pierced yet again 6 months after the first. And finally, I shocked them a 3rd and final time when I got my nose pierced 6 months after my second eyebrow piercing.... This is my answer for this question because a lot of my offline friends never would have thought I would ever do what I did. ;D

What do you do when you aren't busy creating new graphics? I'm usually eating, watching tv (at the moment it's Lost and Rome every wednesday), or sleeping, or thinking about creating graphics. What are your other interests? I'm kind of obsessive in my interests, and have kind of gone through them one at at a time. When i was a kid, i used to collect things like stamps, coins, badges, star wars stuff. In my early teens i become obsessive about music, and it was basically my religion. the first thing i would do in the morning and the last thing at night would be put a record on, always looking for an opportunity to blast it out as load as possible. I would spend all my money on records, and would sell records to buy more records. basically I was a music junkie always serching for the perfect tune to get off on. I liked to read novels and stuff, but that only lasted for a couple of years as i found it time consuming and forgot about 98% of what i read anyway. I spend some time writting, usually comic book scripts, i even draw them, but they took way too long, and i gave up in the end. In my early twenties, my interest in music started to wane, and i began to read tons of comic books, most vertigo comics, as they came to be known, Anything strange dark, gothic, horrible and unusual would do, but they had to be engaging and well written. I Still have a major interest in ancient religions and mythology, particularly Greek mythology. Infact, i have an interest in all things ancient. I like computer games, mostly Japanese rpg's like final fantasy. I am currently playing Breath of fire: Dragon quarter again. I play the guitar a bit. know a few cords and can play some pretty basic classical stuff. What is one thing about you that would surprise people if they knew? That my life has a purpose

What an interesting topic. Kudos to you, Lash, for coming up with it. What do you do when you aren't busy creating new graphics?Usually, I spend most of my time with my 11.25 pound Jack Russell Terrier, Grace. She's 1.25 years old now, and has been a gift from God since she found me last December. I was so blessed to have her in my life as I went thru my divorce this past summer. What are your other interests?Wow, this could really turn into a long list. LOL I've always liked to relax in front of the television set, probably more than I should've. While I've been doing this less and less, lately, I still try to catch some of my favorite shows: Smallville, Commander-in-Chief, Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, Battlestar Gallactica, and a few late-night Anime' shows on Saturdays. In years gone by, I used to read a LOT of Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels. I really haven't done this in the last 4-5 years, mainly because I lost my library of over 2,000 books to the ex. Yeah, I'm not happy about that one. Right now, I'm trying to give back as much as I can. To that extent, 2.5 weeks ago I shaved my head bald, and donated a 15" ponytail of hair to Locks of Love. In another 3-4 years, I'll do it again ( you can laugh at the pics HERE). I've also been training my dog to become a Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy dog. I'm looking forward to her bringing smiles to other people's faces just as she's done to mine. Because of Grace, I've taken a really keen interest in holistics: I want her to be as healthy as possible. This includes being on a RAW diet, and using as few chemicals on her as I legally have to ( i.e. Rabies shots). I don't even use flea collars on her...instead, I use an Essential Oil Blend called Purification to do that ( 2 drops every week or two is all it takes). Essential Oils ( derived from various plants) have really been my main focus lately. The more I study about them ( which is difficult at times, because I don't have a background in medicine or chemistry), the more I'm amazed at what God has given us to combat the ailments we all face. The funny thing is, there are over 200 references to oils, fragrances, etc... in the Bible, yet most people just skip over them thinking, "uh huh, well, I've got Advil now." Or, they simply have no idea as to what they are, and don't bother find out. And if they do, they equate an "oil" to the cheap adulterated oils that are commonly sold today...which they are not. Yet, even aspirin has side-effects, unlike oils like Frankincense and Myrrh ( believe it or not, I actually use these. LOL). Anyway, right now, I'm reading lots of stuff on Essential Oils, and how they can help people...and animals, too, which is my primary interest. Surprisingly, I care more about Grace's health than I do my own. Go figure. What is one thing about you that would surprise people if they knew?First, that I'm a Christian. My artwork, and how I relate to people, tend to make people think that I'm not, or that I'm "evil." It really surprises me how easily people judge you on things like that, without even taking the time to get to know you. I find it a real shame that the majority of people "judge the book by the cover," and refuse to even read the introduction. I'm 6'4", 250 pounds, and look like I should be on America's Most Wanted. Yet I'll be the first one to scoop up a cat or dog and curl up with it on the couch. Secondly, and, well, this is kinda embarassing...I watch Professional Wrestling. I've been "hooked" since I was 8 years old, and have watched it, on and off, for the last 30+ years. Hey, everyone's gotta have a vice, and since I don't smoke, don't drink, and have never done drugs... Anyway, that's some stuff about me.

You all are so interesting! ;D Thump, I defintely associate you with club music! And you're right, I never would have expected you to have pierced your eyebrow and nose, but I'm sure it looks great! (I used to have my tongue pierced, but it gave me a lisp that made me self-conscious so I let it heal). That my life has a purpose M@hu_D, that doesn't surprise me at all! I expect that God has great purpose for your life. I was just thinking that since you have such an interest in ancient religions/mythology and are so well written you should write a book. You know, like a novel with mythological characters. I'd buy it! lol LHW, I can't tell you how awesome I think it is that you donated your hair to Locks of Love. I did the same thing a couple of years ago, although I didn't shave my head completely! Grace sounds like a sweetheart. One of my brothers has a JRT and he never runs out of energy! You three are officially liberated from the box in my head! lol

Hmm. . . I'm Michael...
Well, my life, at the moment, basically consists of school. After band, TeenTrend Starters (tutoring program for 3rd graders), school's literary magazine, inkblot, Beta, FBLA, and others. . . I come home and usually watch tv - Was watching the cartoon Batman Begins but that went off and now I watch MegaMan ^_^ They can get addicting. I guess this is my vice, LHW. ;D I then do my homework, do chores, and get on here. Then I do odd stuff the rest of the day if it isn't a Tuesday. I have church on Tuesdays.
My main interest is in art. Anything having to do with art, I like. My passion and love. *nods*
My secondary interest is in music. CDs and instrument. I play the trumpet and piano, but my interest in playing trumpet is ebbing due to no progress in my band class. It's beginning to get boring because we play the same music over and over with no change, which causes you to not learn and to get bored. So if my band class doesn't change by the end of the year, I'll quit band and teach myself- which is what I am doing with piano.
I also like to act. I'm not in drama at the moment but I plan on being in it. I love to be in any kind of play that is being put on whether it be at church, schoo, or any other place.
I also love to sing. . . I think that it is right up there with my secondary interest. . . I love that word. . . s e c o n d a r y . . . lol... ^_^
Lash, I was think about how I am usually catagorized after reading your post. . . and I don't even know what I would be called. I'm not prep, goth, punk, emo, normal. . . or anything else. I think I'm a catagory in myself. But I believe that I'm beginning to lean towards punk/emo due to my current interest in all things punk/emo/rock/whatever in the world you want to call it.
Oh, some weird thing I love to do which may usually surprise most is that. . . I adore writing essays and speeches. I love to write anyway but when I write essays and speeches my ideas flow from my brain in a current of thoughts and I can't stop it. And I love the feeling of satisfaction after I finish a seven to ten page essay or a few pages long speech and reading through it. I also love to edit papers. . . like on grammer, punctuation. . . funning because I'm usually too lazy to use the correct everything. lol. I also love to speak in front of people.
But yeah, theres a tidbit on me...

What do you do when you aren't busy creating new graphics?
I have pretty much given up on being able to create beautiful graphics. So that really isn't my focus anymore. I still want to learn how to do it since I was once a pretty good artist and still have the desire to create. But I appear to be too stupid to understand the software.
Right now I am learning as much as I can about CSS, HTML, and javascript.
What are your other interests?
I am interested in almost everything that will increase my knowledge. I am trying to learn about so many things. A weird question will pop into my mind and I become obsessed with learning the answer. An example is that I suddenly had an overwhelming urge to find out why I have never seen a cashew in it's shell. (It's because the shell is poisonous if you are curious now) I spent a couple of years studying death rituals a few years ago simply because my friend asked me to make sure that her Jewish ways were properly carried out. I took a drill with me to the funeral home when I went to check and was fully prepared to drill holes in her coffin.
What is one thing about you that would surprise people if they knew?
I have purple hair and get very unhappy when it is not purple enough. I dyed it purple about 4 years ago when my doc said that I probably wouldn't survive through the end of summer. And what is really strange is that every time the purple is gone because of a haircut or something, if I don't get dyed back right away, I get sicker and end up in the hospital again. So I try to keep it purple enough to stay well enough to stay out of the hospital and/or nursing home. Also when my hair is not purple, I look sicker because my skin usually has an unhealthy greenish grey cast to it.
I used to be a teacher . . . actually more of an art therapist working with mentally ill and special needs people including children and the elderly. I am only 51 years old but am as helpless as a baby in many ways. My PC is my window to the world literally as I am not able to go out much any more. I am in a wheelchair with an O2 tank on it when I do go out but most of my time is spent in my hospital bed with my feet up in the air while pumps circulate my body fluids. My mind is raring to go but my body won't let me.
Another thing that might surprise you is that part of the reason I stay at this board is because of Micheal. I feel totally out of my element here except on the Christianity threads. My graphics aren't anything compared to most of you other people but Micheal's posts make me laugh. He is kinda over the top on many of his posts and I think of what a great cheerleader or life coach he would be. Respect for Mahud brought me here but Micheal is the glue that keeps me here. Isn't that strange?

Michael, you are one VERY busy guy! How in the world do you find time to come here and post?? lol It's awesome that you have so many interests. And you're right, you are an entire category yourself! It does surprise me that you like to speak in front of people, but you seem like an outgoing person, so it really shouldn't surprise me at all. I envy that about you! Just thinking about speaking in front of other makes me ill. lol You are definitely out of the box now! ;D Bethany, purple hair! That's wonderful!!! I wish I could see you. I'm sorry about all of the physical problems that you are living with, but I'm glad that you proved your doctor wrong when he said you would only live out the summer! I do wish you peace and comfort in your life and will keep you in my prayers. I do agree with you about M@hu_D and Michael! They are both very special people, but of course I think most of the people on this board are as well!

Yep. I agree. This is a very interesting thread. I have enjoyed reading about you all. (and Lash, you'll have to answer the questions, too, so we can see you out of that box ) Lets see... When I'm not doing graphics.... one thing I need to do (though, I don't really want to do ) is my house work. The past couple of years, I lived with my in-laws and my husband and I just recently moved into our own place again and I am really trying to keep up with my house work. So, doing the dishes and dusting, cleaning the bathroom. All that fun kinda stuff. hehe Also, I do business stuff and try and help my husband with our magic business. I help with performing the shows. (I am the assistant ) My main role with the shows is to set up and pack down the shows and also try and do some of the entering of records into the computer. I really enjoy doing the shows. They are a lot of fun and this is my husbands passion (just like graphics is mine) so I really try and be supportive and help him with it. I also spend a lot of time on the computer, even when I'm not doing graphics. With this forum and I am also an admin at another forum, they keep me very busy. Plus, I really try and spend as much time as possible with Matt He and I are best friends and I really enjoy spending time with him. Even if I don't do graphics while we are visiting, it just really gives me a lot of joy to be with my best buddy I like to watch TV. Though, I don't nearly watch as much as I use to. I use to spend 8 or so hours a day watching TV, now I only spend maybe an hour or 2. There are a few shows I just have to watch like Lost, Alias, Stargate SG-1, Smallville, and Stargate Atlantis. When those shows aren't on, I don't tend to watch tv. Except, some afternoons, Star Trek is on tv and I'll watch an episode of those while ironing or just needing to veg or something. I do like to read novels, though I haven't really read anything for a while. I am a big Lord of the Rings fan, though, that too has died down. but, I still get very excited when I see LOTR things in stores and just bought the LOTR DVD's! hehe So, yeah. LOTR is still a pretty big part of my life. I also love music! I love to sing and I love to listen to music. Mostly, I listen to Christian music. But, really all types. I also play the flute and really want to play more again. I would love to join a band again and take lessons. First, I really need a new flute, 'cause mine is very old. It is the same flute I had when I was in grade 6! hehe But, yeah. My main big interest is in my friends and family. My husband is so important to me and so are my friends. I really am working hard at my marriage to grow and working hard to help my friends. Most surprising thing about me? hmmm..... I don't really know. lol It may not that surprising to you guys, but something that people would be pretty amazed at is that my best friend is someone who I have never met face to face yet I almost spend 6 or 8 hours a day with. That is kinda unusual, I guess. And my favourite animals are squirrels! hehe I just absolutely love squirrels and think they are the cutest most adorable animals in the world! I love going to the park and feeding them and have them crawl all over me. I think they are just the best!

Squirrels yuk! They keep making my power go out! But they are awfully cute when they come knocking on my window wanting me to give them some food.Lash change my hair color to a deep purple (darker than #881188) and if you put sunshine on hair, the highlights look about this color #cc33aa. Then turn my skin grey and you will have a pic of me.

Shan, the magic shows sound like fun! I bet people really enjoy them. And I am a squirrel lover, too! Well, all animals, really. Bethany, I can totally imagine your hair the colors you listed. I bet it looks great! Lash, you'll have to answer the questions, too, so we can see you out of that box Yes, please let me out of the box, too. When I'm not working on graphics I am usually reading. I went through a phase earlier this year where all I did was read. I often went through two books a day, sometimes three if I couldn't sleep. lol I work from 3-7 in the morning, so my hours are a bit odd. A couple of times a week my brother will bring my nephew over to spend the day with me (he's 9 months old, the cutest thing ever, and I am desperately in love with him)! My other interests... I am easily bored so this changes a lot. My two constant interests have been books and graphics, but I also enjoy playing basketball and volleyball, watching hockey, quilting, making notecards, and anything that has to do with animals. Unfortunately, because I have some social phobias that I am trying to work out, I never actually get to play any sports these days. I have a blinkie site that I tried to keep up to date for a while, but between people stealing my bandwidth and my interest in blinkies waning, I think I will probably close it down. Oh and, like Shan, I am always trying to keep up with the housework! One thing that usually surprises people about me is that I allowed a dart and a map to choose my path for most of my twenties. When I was 20 I decided I needed some adventure so I pinned a map to the wall, threw a dart at it, and when it landed on Lansing, Michigan I packed up and moved there. Three years later I got bored again, threw another dart and ended up in Idaho. I only stayed there for three months, then the dart landed me in Mesa, Arizona. I was there for four years. I've been in Hawaii for the last four years. I liked Arizona and will probably go back there in a couple of years. Shan, I was always a bit disappointed that the dart never landed in Canada. That could have been fun! lol BTW, my name is Ellie, so feel free to call me either Lash or Ellie. I answer to both.

That pic of us out of the box made me smile and laugh, hehe. I was just thinking that since you have such an interest in ancient religions/mythology and are so well written you should write a book. You know, like a novel with mythological characters. I'd buy it! lol I've been thinking about writing one for...something like 12 years now. I've created my own world with characters and stuff. It's kind of Lord of the ringish in a way, although i wasn't realy influenced by that. I've written bits and pieces down, but mostly it's all still in my head to just throw a dart at a map would be wonderful...i would love to have the freedom to do that .

You should do it! I know that writing a book is an enormous commitment, but I bet you would come up with something awesome. to just throw a dart at a map would be wonderful...i would love to have the freedom to do that . Yeah, so would I! lol I could never do something like that these days. Looking back I can't decide whether I was adventurous, naive, or just incredibly stupid. Most likely all three.

Shan, I was always a bit disappointed that the dart never landed in Canada. That could have been fun! lol if you ever throw a dart again and it lands in Canada, I hope it lands in BC, and you can come and visit me That would be way fun!! hehe And Yay!!! Lash is out of the box now, too!!! That is awesome that you have a little nephew! My niece and nephew are all grown up now. My niece is actually turning 20 this year It makes me feel sooooo old! hehe Well, not really, 'cause I was only 13 when she was born I really hope you get to spend loads of time with him! I bet he is absolutely adorable!!! one of my close friends just had a baby and she is 9 months old, too! She is also very sweet and I think of her as my niece, actually hehe So, there we have something else in common!! And Matty, I really think it would be cool if you wrote your novel I always thought that would be cool and I would definately be the first person to buy it

That is so cool, Shan! Another thing in common. Yes, I ADORE my nephew, he's the sweetest thing. The only thing is whenever he visits my place ends up looking like a disaster. His favorite thing to do is open the lower cabinets of my entertainment center and pull out all of the DVD's! And the cat has gotten very good at hiding from him. lol Do you and your husband have any children?

hehe Yeah. Olivia is just beginning to get around and pulling stuff down. Her mom has to make sure she doesn't end up in the cat litter box lol My husband and I don't have any children. I have difficulty in conceiving, so we may not. Or, we may try and adopt sometime, which I think would be cool. My husband would make an excellent father. He is soooo good with kids!!

My husband and I don't have any children. I have difficulty in conceiving, so we may not. Me, too. I'm sorry that you are having the same troubles. Adoption is a wonderful option, except that the waitlists are SOOO long! We thought about doing foster-to-adopt, but decided that it was too unreliable (we were told that it can take YEARS to get both parents to sign over their rights and they can take the child back at any moment during that time). We had a little boy for a few months, but the state ended up giving him back to his mother and it broke my heart to see him go.
