What do you have your screen resolution set as? Does anyone have any idea what the most used resolution is? I was thinking about this yesterday when I uploaded a background to Photobucket and it stretched the page because I tend to make them pretty wide. But if most people use a lower resolution then it wouldn't hurt to make the background smaller, right? For those of you that use a higher resolution, does it bother you when you visit a site and the background cuts off at the edges? When you create a background, how wide do you make it? Hehe Have I asked enough questions?

The most common, thanks to businesses and aging "Baby Boomers," is 800x600, followed closely by 1024x768.
I have a widescreen display on my laptop, so mine's usually set to 1280x800...on rare occasions I'll set it to 1900x1200.
EDIT: I don't conform to any set size when I make backgrounds. Sometimes they'll be 1280x800, while others may simply be as small as 800x150 (which I'll center against a black background).

Thanks Rich. I guess it can't hurt to make my backgrounds smaller then. I can't believe the most used is 800x600! (Okay, actually I can, but still... wow. That's huge. lol)
How can you read anything when your screen is set to 1900x1200?? Mine doesn't even go that high. LOL

mine's 1024 X 768. It never really occurred to me untill recently that my backgrounds would cut of at the edges for people with bigger monitors, and if i want them to be full screen now, i make them 1280 in width. But they come much bigger ;D. The best way to go, is probably like Rich said. center the background, and have a bg colour, rather than try to make it full screen. or just use a simple seemless tiling bg.

Thanks M@. I've been experimenting with little tiling backgrounds today, but I prefer how it looks when there a single strip of color that frames the board, so I probably won't use those much.
Mine is set to 1024x768 most of the time, too. Seems like almost everything looks good at that setting.
