On the code that you give with the templates i cant get the bars to repeat, so instead of repeating i just have 1 image at the top and bottom of my page  could you help me ou plz |

i think the images you mean are the header and footer images, which are not supposed to repeat. What i think you need to do is put the background image in 'Create/modify forum skins'. You're using Shan's golden dreams template right? the image is in the 'Background, banner, etc' folder and is called 'blackback16'. if you put that in it should repeat and complete the background  |
