This tutorial teaches how to use various Effects and settings in psp to enhance your graphics. These include:
Distortion effects (wind and Warp)
Texture Effects (blinds)
Artistic Effects (Topography)
Geometric effects (skew)
3D effects (Buttonise)
Colour Balance
brightness and contrast
Tools used:
Freehand Select tool
Selection tool
Eraser tool
Text tool
Other:
Merge (all and Down) and Duplicate Layers
Copying and pasting Layers
Set colours in Material box
Center Objects

copy and paste this background in psp.
copy this image
and paste as a new layer ontop of the background and position it to the right.
View
Right click on squirrel layer in the 'layers palette' and duplicate the layer.
Go to effects > Distortion effects > wind. set the direction 'from right' and the strengh to 100.
select the eraser tool with these settings > size: 50 Opacity:25, and click over the squirrel five or six times to reduce the blurryness, so it looks like this

merge all (flatten) layers.
Go to Adjust > Colour Balance > colour balance, and set the colour Levels to 26, -17, -38.
Select the text tool, and choose the SerpentineDBol font, and make these settings.
Create as: Vector
Size: 20
Stroke Width: 1.0
Anti-alias: Smooth
in the materials box, set these colours.
forground and stroke:#1d0c03
background and fill:#a0330f
Select the text tool, and click on the image to enter the text.
Text:
Nuts About (enter)
Squirrels.
Center(objects > Align > center), and position the text to the left.
Convert the vector text layer to a raster layer, and duplicate.
Go to effects > Distortion effects > wind. set the direction 'from right' and the strengh to 100.
select the eraser tool and (again with these settings > size: 50 Opacity:25) and click over the Text five or six times to reduce the blurryness (like with the squirrel), so it looks like this

Merge all layers (flatten), and duplicte.
Go to effects > Texture Effects > Blinds
settings:
Width: 2
Opacity: 10
Colour: #f8d8af
Horizontal: checked
Select the eraser tool, and with the same settings, edit out some of the horizontal lines from the image.

Merge down, and duplicte.
Go to effects > Artistic Effects > Topography
settings:
Width:0
Density:100
Angle:45
Colour: #ffffff
Reduce the opacity to 40.
Select the eraser tool, and with the same settings, and edit out some of the topography effect from the image, to smooth it out a bit.

Merge down, and duplicte.
Go to effects > Distortion effects > Warp
Settings:
Horizontal 23
vertical 43
size 24
strengh 13
then erase over the Squirrel's head.
View
Merge down, and duplicte.
Go to effects > Geometric effects > skew
Settings
Horizontal: checked
Skew angle: 25
Edge mode: transparent
Select the freehand selection tool, with these settings:
Selection type: Freehand
Mode: Replace
Feather: 3
Smoothing: 0
Anti-alias: checked
make your selection around the squirrel, and cut (Ctrl+x)
View
Press Ctrl+D to deselect.
Merge down, and duplicte.
Go to Effects > 3D effects > Buttonise
Settings:
Height: 28
Width: 1
Opacity 23
Edge: solid
Colour: #ffffff
Select the selection tool
Settings
Selection type: Rectangle
Mode: replace
Feather: 0
Anti-alias: checked
and cut (Ctrl+x) the bottom half of the buttonised layer.
View
Press Ctrl+D to deselect.
Merge down, and duplicte.
Go to adjust > brightness and contrast > brightness and contrast
Settings
Brightness: 30
Contrast: 30
and reduce the opacity to about 40.
Merge down
And that's it. ;D
