Ok I have attempted Smilies many times and save for the few I did in MS Paint I cant seem to do them very well in PS cause they get rough around the edges...
Is there a way to prevent that?
Also worse then that the faces is the second issue I can never seem to do a face very well for All the smilies.
So is there an easier way to do the faces?

Hm, Nya, I wish I could help but I'm not sure what to tell you. I've always made mine in MS Paint, like you. Um, have you looked at one under zoom? If not, it might help you see what you need to do... [shrugs]

In PS, Use Elliptical Shape Tool THIS one, not the Selection and when you add a stroke, Choose "Inside" instead of "Outside". That'll do it. As for the faces, I use Pencil Tool

Yep..NEVER use the Shape Selection Tools. It always gives rough edges whether it is for smilies or head/base images.

In psp the selection tool isn't so bad, and can give anti-aliased edged as sooth as vector objects. Doesn't PS have an anti-alia option, or doesn't it work very well? Some of my favourite smilies I made a while ago were vector based, although I pixeled the faces. Still I think they turned out pretty neat

Thanks, Nya I really hope the tutorial helps a bit, too. I learned a lot from it! And have been doing the bg colour matching a lot since then, too. Even with siggies. 'Cause then you can add drop shadows and things like that to them without being rough and made into .png's.
