Hi,
I'm really new to gfx programs and I only have what my computer came with.
It's Ability Photopaint Studio.
Can you please advise me on this program and if it's any good? If it isn't what's the best for an old beginner like me.
Thank You
Sharon

I downloaded the trial version of Ability Photopaint Studio to check it out, and it looks like a pretty good program. It includes all the basics of any good graphics/image editor, including the ability to work with layers, vectors, filters, etc, and the tools palette seems to have all the usual options such as Magic Wand, Selection Tool, Paintbrush, Text Tool, etc.
The gradient tool reminds me of the GIMP graphics program, in fact it has many similarities to GIMP, which is a free graphics program many use as an alternative to Photoshop.
I would say it has plenty of functions to get you started and if you should upgrade to a more professional program such as Photoshop you will have some knowledge to fall back on.
The downside for a program like this is the lack of online tutorials. Although the help option seems to provide help with the basic operations, nothing beats Photoshop for it's massive online community of users.
Photoshop is very expensive, but there is a version called Photoshop Elements at a fraction of the cost.
I use Paint Shop Pro, that does everything Photoshop does, but is around the same price as Photoshop Elements. It's a very good program, but as I said, nothing beats Photoshop for it's massive community and support and online tutorials.

Thank You for the replies LOL I'm a bit of an Ebay addict so will go and have a look on that and see what they have to off regarding Programes.
I might learn the basics on this 1st and go from there.
Thanks Again.

Yeah. I actually got my PSP8 off of e-bay, too. It cost me only like $40 CA, I believe. And it was the original and everything, too. Yeah. e-bay is a great place to look for inexpensive programs
