This tutorial will teach you how to make a dashed border for your signatures, or avatars.
Open up a sig that has no border, and that of which you want to give a border.
Make a new raster layer (Layers | New Raster Layer | Ok), then press CTRL+A to select the whole layer.
Now press F on your keyboard to select the Floodfill Tool and then set your foreground color of your Color Palette to black. (#000000)
Now using the foreground color (left mouse), click the selected layer on your sig, now it should be all black.
Now go to Selections > Modify > Contract and set the number of pixels to 1 and click ok.
Now press the Delete key on your keyboard. You should now have something like this:
All you need to do now, is make a new image (CTRL+N) and make it any size you want, try make it an even size. Choose this carefully as this will determine the size of the gaps in your dashed border.
I wouldnt go above 14x14, but dont go below 4x4.
I used 6x6 on this sig.
Now, once you have clicked ok, select your airbrush tool and set the size of it to 3 if you made the image 6x6, but make it 4 if you chose 8x8 and keep going up one for every size you chose.
Now zoom right in on this new image. Set your foreground color to white (#000000) and then in the top left corner of this image, click once, and do the same in the bottom right corner.
Now minimize that window and go back to your other image, your sig image. Press F to choose your floodfill tool, and then on your foreground color, click pattern, and set the pattern to your new image.
Now, zoom in a bit on your sig, and then using your left mouse button, click on the black solid border, once.
Now there we have it, its complete. Mess about with the sizes of the dashes and the colors of your choice, cos you dont have to use black for the solid border and white for your dash
You can also put a solid border on the inside or outside of the dashed border. For the inside solid border, press ctrl+a to select all, then go to selections > modify > contract, and set the number of pixels to 2, now click ok. And now choose your floodfill tool by pressing F on your keyboard, and fill the selection with whatever color you want (most likely black), now go to selections > modify > contract, and this time set the number of pixels to 1 and click ok. Now hit the delete button on your keyboard, and press ctrl+d to deselect. And there we have that.
For the outside border, simply go to Image > Add Borders, and set the color to what you want, and set left, top, right and bottom to something like 1 or 2 pixels. and click ok. And there you have a border on the outside.
If you have any questions on this, then dont hesitate to ask. Especially if havent explained something well enough lol.
I understand this may seem sort of complicated to you at first if you are new to psp, but once you have done this a couple of times, you will be able to do it really fast and efficiently, like how i can
Enjoy!
