It's odd that Mike just mentioned tolerance cause i have a wee rant, (please hear me out)

Okay, you guys are the only non-lapsed christians i've been in contact with for what is probably years.
This is cool, i like you all & am used to your ways of celebrating God & how you allow me to merely observe without pouncing on me. But something happened to me today that really upset me.
Yup, i was caught unawares by Jehovah Witnesses *sigh*

Now, i realise that i saw probably asking for trouble inviting them into my house when i was on my own with my very small daughter ;)but they live down my road (theres a 'Kingdom Hall' down our road too, i hear this is their church) & it was raining & i kinda felt sorry for them so invited them in for a cuppa, (fool gwen fooool)

I explained straight off that i wasn't a christian (to be honest, with the alter & goddess statues in our lounge, this was pretty obvious) but they were nice at first, they made a fuss of Mischa & asked after her health then they told me about their organisation in stratford etc but it slowly started to get actually quite offensive. I felt like i was 11 again, being bullied by the pretty girl at school who would be all sweet smiles but be spitting venom with it.
"Never was there a more deceptive doctrine advanced than that of the trinity" the woman quoted at me at one point. i googled this & it came back with 'the Watchtower' (their literature) *blah* I couldn't be sure at the time whether they were talking about your trinity or mine, but it made me uncomfortable, like any minute they were gonna drag me outside & stone me or have me thrown from the community.

I honestly don't understand it, why they persisted at all to try & turn me, surely the paganness of my house would have been a clear indicator that i wasn't just a non-christian but (what seems to be) their idea of satan (the pagan they so despise) *shudder*
Suffice to say Mischa began to get tetchy & i had to tell them to leave (quite rudely i'm sorry to say)
I felt violated, & shaken. Sorry if i've offended anyone but i just don't understand why they can't just be tolerant & leave me alone

I am a Pentecostal... you know... the ranting crazy speaking in tongues people (Note: I'm NOT Charismatic). lol. What we believe is basically to live by the Word (Bible, perferrably the KJV though it doesn't really matter) and to seek God in prayer, reading His Word, and fasting. By doing this we are creating a strong relationship in God, which in turn, gives us a relationship with the Trinity, the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (or Spirit).

Because Jehovah Witnesses' doctrine is different than what the Bible (the KJV... translated from the Greek... and all) says to be true. The Bible promotes the Trinity and says that those who do not believe in the Trinity may be a cult or just a wayward denomination. As seen from the Pentecostal's and the Bible (KJV) point of view. There are also other major differences between the doctrine of my denomination and there's of course but I'm only mentioning this one since it was already mentioned.

Actually, my house has been visited by JW's quite occasionally. By learning through experience... we just tell them we're Pentecostal, invite them to our church and they pretty much get ticked and leave. ^^ I think it's a little funny though. But that's me. *shrugs*

I wish I could do something for you, Gwen. I am sorry you were visited by them. =/

Gwen, I'm really sorry that happened to you. It really is so disturbing when people are not respectful and just bully themselves like that. I'm so sorry you went through that *hugs*

If I remember correctly... and I could be wrong.... is I have heard that JW's go door-to-door like that and try to convert people, because they believe that is one of the way they get to heaven. And even if they are rejected for their beliefs, it is still a way for them to get to heaven and so the persist with it. It is one of their 'good works'. Is that right?

*nods* Yup, they do do that because after they came to our door they went next door. My neighbor was a tad drunk at the time and kind of scared them. Hehe, I laughed at them running in their suits and dresses! ^^

I feel better now thanks guys, John was really ticked when he came home from work & was fit for going & shouting at them lol. suffice to say they won't be coming into our house again

Its quite funny really, my Dad was a minister in training (he is now a minister of a Church) and some JW's came around, he told them we were chritians and he invited them in. They cam in and they had a good chat, but the catch? A few days later thye visited again and started talking to him again either they wanted to convert my dad or they were intrested in our faith, in my opinion pretty cool eh?
