Hehe, this may sound like a REALLY obvious question, but what does it mean to "bump" a thread and why would someone want to?

Smangii, Bumping a thread means bringing it back to the top of the list. In a graphics forum it is often used by someone who doesn't want to wait for someone to eventually get to their request. Sometimes though, it is used appropriately to relay info that has already been covered throughly in another thread. Some bumpers try to fool people though by deleting their post and reposting. In that case it is just rude. In forums like this one, we try to work as a team with each person using their strengths and waiting for others to take the requests where we might be weak. For example, I know that M@ saw Jakob's request but because I said that I wanted to try and fill that request, he let it pass by without doing anything. We haven't had any big discussion about this but rather it is because we have come to know each other well that it happens this way. We are also fiercely protective of each other because we are dedicated to see that the others all succeed in whatever the other one sets out to do. It's a love thing. This is probably the most unique graphics board on the internet. We can't even compete right. I personally don't care about "winning" a challenge because the person that I am really competing with is myself. I also don't like the "Rate this" threads because I think that they are totally unfair to everyone. Each of us have different software and different skill levels and different tastes. We are all different ages. I think that the Hamster is the youngest at 14 and I am the oldest at 51 so for anyone to expect me to like the same things that a 14 year old boy likes is totally ridiculous. Yet Hamster is my biggest fan I think. And I am his biggest fan. I don't like this Karma thing either but since most do like it I don't complain. I do see my karma rise and fall almost ever day and those who smite me haven't got guts enough to say who they are or why but I think that they mean to hurt me with it and I simply don't care. Now my friend, I am going to look for a thread that may interest you and bump it for you. ;D
