My bathroom nightlight burned out a few days ago so because I need a new bulb and haven't any readily available, (I hate turning on the overhead light at night when I go in there) I plugged in a black light that my friend Jerry put in my bathroom several years ago so that he could look at different fabrics to see if they would glow in the dark. I was sewing a lot then and he liked for me to make him shorts that were reflective when he rode his bike at night.
Anyway, tonight I got up to go to the bathroom and when I got done, I was washing my hands and glanced up to see my reflection in the mirror. I thought that a skull was in the bathroom grinning at me! Because of my illness, I have semi-dark circles around my eyes and I have high cheekbones. So in the black light, it looked like I was just a skull . . . . until I noticed the white flowers in my nightgown also glowing. LOL I thought Death had come for me. What a Halloween fright I gave myself!

HEHEHEHE! My aide scared herself silly this morning too! She went to run my bathwater and thought she saw a ghost in the bathroom but it was just herself.

some people believe your death is you're constant companion in life; they are born with you and forfil their purpose when they come to you at the time of death, take you by the hand & say 'come on, its time to go' maybe you did see your death, it was just checking in to see if you were okay?

We set up the black light in my living room for the trick or treaters. I knew who was coming and knew that they love a good fright. It was the pastor and youth pastor and their kids. Both men come from Mississippi where folklore is taken practically as gospel.
Shane (the pastor) ducked into my linen closet looking for a white sheet and then tried to scare the kids. It didn't work at all until the kids looked into the mirror. The little one was painted up in camo as an army guy and he got mad when he saw himself. He crawled up into my lap and sucked his thumb. I felt sorry for him then and washed his face off so that he could see himself as he really is.
Did anything spooky happen to any of you?

A little bit of fright might be a good thing Illyria. At least for that moment most people cry out to God for protection. Two frightening things happened today here though and my heart hasn't stopped pounding yet.
The first was a loud KABOOM as a squirrel ran into something electrical and blew up the transformer. Then while they were trying to restore power, a bomb threat was issued at the high school which is only 4 blocks away from my apartment and 1 block from the hospital. The bomb threat was a badly carried out joke by a teenager but for a while, there was panic and screams to be heard over the sounds of sirens. I don't live that far from Columbine High School where two boys shot up the school killing many people before dying themselves. It is always on our minds.
Be careful girls and boys. The world is becoming a dangerous place!

ohhh lord, i saw that michael moore doc 'bowling for columbine' shocking! it's scares me utterly that you can buy guns in superstores over there! stacked next to your weekly shopping! as if you'd be like "mmm, milk...bread....jam....gun" indeed Bethany, the world is dangerous but even more so when children can get access to firearms in their home! that's turning teenage angst into a ticking timebomb! shocking
