Interesting Statistics

I was recently listening to a training tape, when the speaker noted several facts. I found them interesting enough to transcribe what he said, and thought I'd share it with everyone (keep in mind, this is from 2002)...

If we could shrink the Earth’s population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following:

• There would be 57 Asians
  • 21 Europeans
    
  • 14 from the Western Hemisphere (both North and South)
    
  • 8 Africans
• 52 would be female
  • 48 would be male
• 70 would be non-white
  • 30 would be white
• 70 would be non-Christian
  • 30 would be Christian
• 89 would be heterosexual
  • 11 would be homosexual
• 6 people would possess 59% of the entire world’s wealth
  • All 6 would be from the United States
• 80 would live in sub-standard housing
  
• 70 would be unable to read
  
• 50 would suffer from malnutrition
  
• 1 would be near death
  • 1 near birth
• 1, yes, only 1, would have a college education
  
• 1 would own a computer

When you consider our world from such a perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding, and education become glaringly apparent.

A few other things worth pondering…

• If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the Million that will not survive this week.
  
• If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 Million people in the world.
  
• If you can attend church without fear of harassment, arrest or torture, or death, you are more blessed than 3 Billion people in the world.
  
• If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead, and a place to sleep, you are richer than 57% of this world.
  
• If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world’s most wealthy.
  
• If your parents are still alive and still married, you are very rare…even here in the United States and Canada.
  
• If you can read this, you are more blessed than over 2 Billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Wow they are some amazing facts...i have facts not so indepth and with alot less people but i cant find them but these are just amazing there is also something else i would like to post when i find it

A few years ago, I was doing a Bible study that caused me to go through my Strong's Concordance to look something up. When I was done, I decided to look up "Lord High Warlock." This was the end result.

Literally translated, it means "Lord High Sorcerer."

WOW that's all I have to say! Those other interesting facts are just astonishing. I had no idea how lucky I am....I'm top 8% that's just ridiculous!

Yeah, when you're used to dealing with just your own country's statistics, it's quite an eye-opener when you add in the rest of world, and see how you measure up.

This makes me want to donate all my birthday money to charities and food drives. Hmm, maybe that could be my new years resolution (hehe, still haven't got one yet) xD
