Earlier this year there was a city here in Maine that passed a no smoking law that prohibits anyone smoking in their vehicle when they have a minor with them and they made the law a primary offense, which means they can pull you over for smoking. Even the seatbelt law up here isn't a primary offense. Now I know there are already places that have this law and I'm definitely all for keeping our kids healthy, for I have a teenage daughter myself. I am one of many people that smoke and I don't smoke in my house or in my car anyways, but I know a lot of non-smokers who think this is taking things too far. What do you think?
This all came to mind when I got back from smoking outside, how ironic.

That. . . Is ridiculous. . .>.> Next thing you know they're going to prohibit smoking from everything. . . . Just like standing outside. . . Or in your house. . . I mean it's in your car! Your personal space. . WTD. . It's just as bad as this ICP song my sister has, and it has some little scene with people at a drive through smoking, and they were beat up and arrested for smoking IN THEIR CAR.
Next thing you know is we'll have to pay for breathing. . . -rolls eyes-

Tell me about it! Like I said, I'm all for keeping our kids healthy, but do more about SERIOUS offenders on the road, like drunk drivers. This new smoking law in Bangor, Maine, for now, is just a law there, but our Governor is wanting to make it a state wide ban by the end of this year or next, so I've heard. He's already made it hard on us smokers because Maine has the highest cigarette tax in the Nation, but come on. I heard from somewhere that in a matter of a just a few years smoking is going to be made completely illegal. Yes, lets ban smoking, but keep those drunk drivers on the road. That'll surely keep our kids in good health. EditPay no mind to my ranting, I just need to vent a little. lol

No, you have a point. You have all these underage/above age drunk drivers who mostly get away with being behind the wheel and putting others in danger. And just having a cigarette. . . wow >.<

I don't necessarily think the ban is all bad. I don't think the government has any right to tell people whether or not they can smoke in a car or in their home if they are alone or with other adults, but when there is a child involved it kind of complicates things. My best friend has all kinds of lung problems and has never smoked a day in her life, however her mom and dad were both chain smokers and did it in the house and in the car. When there is a child involved I think the adult needs to be responsible and make the choice not to smoke around the child. The government shouldn't have to tell people not to do it in the first place. Just my .02!

ILY Ellie (Hey. . . That. . Rhymed. . . LOL!! I AM GOOD) But I don't think smoking is that much of a risk than drinking. . They should be thinking about drinking with teenagers, more than cigarettes. . . I've already lost some friends from them drinking. . . And driving.
