so last week my family hosted these missionaries going to a place called XJ. i won't say what it stands for since it would be trouble, but it's an intervarsity team of college kids going to teach the U's -- a Muslim minority group that lives in XJ -- how to speak and write English. it's really awesome. we hosted the leaders, like we have for the past 3 years.
so i wrote a letter to them to open on the trainride there. i don't know if they remembered it. just pray for their:
strength
hearts
minds
tongues
words
and so on. they can't so much as mention the Bossman (God)'s real name out loud, or... uh-oh. the XJ members get paired up with a U. sometimes they get Christians, sometimes Muslims.
there was this one guy, "Moses", who was a Muslim. very devout. he prayed to Allah every day and basically did all the good Muslim things. but he felt empty. so he prayed really hard to Allah to show him a sign to determine whether Allah was real enough. a night later, Moses saw something. he was on his rooftop gazing at the stars when suddenly he saw the moon. it was a crescent -- waning. there was this bright star next to it. and suddenly the moon started to fade away, and the star grew and grew and exploded, and this light just shined.
now, the moon and the star are really important to Muslims, as you probably know. Moses didn't know it, but he'd had a vision. he was confused, and he told his friend about what he'd seen. his friend took him to an Australian pastor who could tell dreams. he said the moon and star fading away was Moses' old Muslim life dying away, and that he would live in Christianity. Moses refused to believe it.
a night later, Moses had a dream. his school had a problem with prostitution, and in this dream he was standing in the hall of the principal's office. there were two statues of naked women by the door. and then there was JESUS. i can't believe Moses got to see Him. but Jesus lifted this staff, and pointed at the statues, and they exploded. and then Jesus turned, and pointed the staff straight at Moses.
that's how Moses was saved. so pray for Moses and the other Christians. and the XJ team. love you all.
