Sci-Fi:Okay, so we have definitions but they are just a bunch of words, right? So what are some examples of Sci-Fi & Fantasy in pop culture?
- A literary or cinematic genre in which fantasy, typically based on speculative scientific discoveries or developments, environmental changes, space travel, or life on other planets, forms part of the plot or background.
- The use of the discovery or application of new scientific principles, such as time travel or psionics, or new technology, such as nanotechnology, faster-than-light travel or robots.
- Works of fiction that use scientific discoveries or advanced technology — either actual or imaginary — as part of their plot. Jules Verne and H. G. Wells were early writers of science fiction. More recent ones are Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury.
Fantasy:
- a supposition based on no solid foundation; visionary idea; illusion: dreams of Utopias and similar fantasies.
- a genre of art that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, or setting.
- imagination unrestricted by reality; Imagery that is more or less coherent, as in dreams and daydreams, yet unrestricted by reality.
