Yeah, some gradients would be nice. Also, your header blends far too well with your background. You should add some effects to the background in your header to set it apart. Also, brown's a little... off. Use a grayish brown or gray of some sort. Maybe give the font a few more tricks or something...

Despite all that I've said, it's really not that bad for a rush-through! ^_^
